St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District Enters into Lease Agreement with American Sugar Refining, Inc.
“The St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District recently entered into a long-term lease agreement with one of the parish’s largest companies,” said Port Executive Director Drew Heaphy.
American Sugar Refining, Inc. (ASR), a member of ASR Group and owner of the Domino® Sugar Chalmette Refinery, signed a 10-year lease for an 80,000 square-foot warehouse facility at the Port’s Chalmette Terminal.

St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District To Sell St. Bernard Property for Potential New Container Terminal
The Board of Commissioners of the St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District have reached an agreement and unanimously voted to approve the conveyance of a property in Violet, LA to the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) for a potential new container terminal. For St. Bernard Port, the conveyance is part of the resolution of long-standing litigation surrounding the property.

St. Bernard Port Conducts First Cargo Transfer in Violet
The St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District is pleased to announce the first cargo transfer to take place at its new Violet Terminal.
The TEXEL, a 434-foot general cargo ship sailing under the Holland flag, docked in Violet at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, marking the first cargo ship to berth at the Violet Terminal.
Port Employees Receive Vessel Training Certifications
Two staff members at the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District have recently completed vessel training courses required by the U.S. Coast Guard in order to operate a boat with up to six (6) passengers.
